The ONDCP was established to create policies, priorities, and objectives for the Nation’s drug control program. The National Drug Control Strategy oversees anti-drug programs, a budget and guidelines for cooperation between local, state and federal agencies. The goals of the program are to reduce illegal drug use, manufacture, and trafficking and to reduce drug-related crime and health consequences. ONDCP also evaluates, coordinates, and oversees the international and domestic anti-drug efforts of executive branch agencies. The Director advises the President regarding changes in the organization, management, budgeting, and personnel of federal agencies.
