The DEA is the U.S. federal agency charged with enforcing all controlled substance laws and regulations in the U.S as well as serving as a liaison with organizations, such as the United Nations and Interpol, involved in international drug control programs. It manages a national drug intelligence program that investigates and aids in the prosecution all those involved in the growing, manufacture or distribution of controlled substances. It also supports non-enforcement programs such as crop eradication and training of foreign officials aimed at reducing the availability of illegal drugs on the domestic and international markets.
